Privacy Policy
Pack Library (Library of Ink) — Last updated: August 13, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Pack Library (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you use the Pack Library Android app and related Pack Library services, including the reader website and account support services.
In the Android app, Pack Library offers Google Play subscription access and ad-supported access. The reader website offers subscriptions through Stripe and does not offer ad-supported access. Android ad-supported access is not a paid subscription and does not have a Pack Library payment method or card information attached to it.
Information We Collect
Account and authentication information
- Email address, screen name or username, Firebase user identifier, and authentication information used to create and access an account.
- An app-generated session identifier used to support sign-in and account-session controls.
Access and subscription information
- Account mode and the subscription-access status needed to decide which content the account may open.
- For Android subscriptions, information returned to the app that is necessary to confirm and restore Google Play subscription entitlement.
- For reader-website subscriptions, the account email is used to ask Stripe whether a customer exists and whether the subscription is active or trialing. Pack Library receives the resulting subscription status; checkout also sends Stripe the account email and Firebase user identifier when available.
Android ad-supported access and rewards
- Android ad-supported account status and chapter unlocks. The reader website does not offer ad-supported access.
- Rewarded-ad requests, results, errors, timestamps, book and chapter references, reward status, account identifier, and account email.
- Reward activity, Pack Points, completed-book rewards, promotional-code assignments, and reward requests where those features are used.
Reading progress and preferences
- On-device data such as the last book and chapter, scroll position, font size, theme, audio preference, and locally cached access or unlock state.
- Reading-related state sent to the account record for notifications, including the current book and chapter and recent meaningful reading activity. Pack Points and completed-book reward status are also synced to the account record.
Notification information
- Notification permission and prompt status, whether notification targeting is enabled, sign-in status, installation identifier, Firebase Cloud Messaging token, current book and chapter, and activity timestamps.
App usage, advertising, diagnostics, and device information
- Google Analytics is active on the library-browsing service and processes usage information about visits and interactions.
- In the Android app, Google AdMob processes information needed to request, deliver, measure, and protect ads. Depending on the device and Google’s services, this may include IP address, advertising or other device identifiers, approximate location derived from signals such as IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostic information.
- Operational error details are recorded for rewarded-ad attempts, including error codes and messages. The audited implementation does not establish that Firebase Crashlytics is active.
Advertising and Ad-Supported Access
This section applies only to the Android app. Android users may unlock supported chapters by completing rewarded ads delivered through Google AdMob. Pack Library records the ad request and outcome and, when a reward is earned, the associated chapter unlock. Android ad-supported access is not a subscription and Google Play does not bill an account for choosing it. The reader website does not display rewarded ads or provide ad-supported chapter access.
The app code reviewed for this policy does not establish whether every ad served is personalized or non-personalized. Advertising choices or consent controls made available by Google may vary by device, account, and region.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate accounts, maintain profiles, and support account sessions.
- Deliver books and other app features and confirm subscription entitlement.
- In the Android app, provide ad-supported access, record rewarded-ad results, and preserve earned chapter unlocks and rewards.
- Save reading progress and preferences and identify relevant book or chapter notifications.
- Send notifications requested or permitted on the device.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the app and related services.
Payments and Subscriptions
Android app subscriptions
Pack Library subscriptions in the Android app are purchased, billed, and managed through Google Play. Google Play processes the purchase and payment method. Pack Library receives the information needed to confirm or restore subscription entitlement; Pack Library does not directly collect, receive, store, or process users’ full credit or debit card information.
Cancel a subscription through the Google Play account used to purchase it. Deleting a Pack Library account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription. You can manage subscriptions at the Google Play subscriptions page.
Reader website subscriptions
Pack Library subscriptions purchased through the reader website are processed and managed through Stripe. Stripe handles the applicable website payment and billing information. Pack Library uses the website subscriber’s email to check Stripe subscription status and receives whether the subscription is active, trialing, or another status. When available, the account email and Firebase user identifier are supplied to Stripe checkout to associate the checkout with the Pack Library account. Pack Library does not directly collect, receive, store, or process users’ full credit or debit card information.
Website subscribers can cancel or manage their subscription through the Stripe customer-management page provided by Pack Library. Deleting a Pack Library account does not automatically cancel a reader-website subscription.
Notifications
Pack Library uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver Android notifications. When available, the app stores a Firebase Cloud Messaging token and an app installation identifier with the user record so notifications can be directed to the installation. It also stores notification permission and targeting status, current reading context, and relevant activity timestamps. You can disable Pack Library notifications in your Android device settings.
Sharing of Information and Service Providers
Information is processed by service providers as needed to operate the app and related services:
- Google Play: Android subscription purchases, billing, subscription management, and entitlement information.
- Stripe: reader-website subscription checkout, payment and billing processing, subscription management, and subscription-status checks.
- Google Firebase: email/password Authentication, Firestore database storage, and Cloud Messaging. Firebase Admin services are also used by Netlify-hosted functions for account administration and sending messages.
- Google AdMob: Android rewarded-ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related advertising processing.
- Google Analytics: usage measurement on the library-browsing service.
- Netlify: website hosting and serverless functions that support Pack Library services.
Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Reading position, reader preferences, cached access state, account identifiers, and session information are stored locally by the app’s web content. Firebase remotely stores account profiles, access state, Pack Points and reward status, ad-unlock and rewarded-ad records, and notification targets and reading context.
Android users with a Google Play subscription or ad-supported account and reader-website subscribers may request deletion of their Pack Library account and associated data. Account deletion does not automatically cancel either a Google Play subscription or a reader-website Stripe subscription. The deletion process removes the Firebase Authentication account, deletes notification targets and the account’s ad-unlock and rewarded-ad event records, and clears identifying assignments from promotional-code and reward-request records.
A limited deleted-profile record remains in Firestore with the account identifier as its document key, deleted status and deletion metadata; its email, names, and active session token are cleared. Pack Library also retains an administrative deletion audit record containing the account identifier, the deletion-request email, the administrator who performed the action, timestamps, and the deletion result. Reward and promotional-code records may retain the deleted account identifier and deletion timestamp after the email and active assignment are cleared. These limited records document the deletion action and support account administration and security.
The current implementation does not establish a fixed retention period or a fixed deadline for completing deletion, so this policy does not promise one. For instructions, visit the Pack Library Account & Data Deletion page.
Your Choices
- Android subscription: Manage or cancel it through the Google Play account used for purchase at the Google Play subscriptions page.
- Reader-website subscription: Manage or cancel it through the Stripe customer-management page provided by Pack Library.
- Request account and associated-data deletion using the account-deletion instructions.
- Android notifications: Disable them through Android device settings.
- Android advertising: Use advertising consent or privacy controls shown by Google where those controls are made available.
- Uninstall the app at any time. Uninstalling does not cancel a Google Play subscription and does not itself delete remotely stored account data.
